Ian Eckersley is a career communications and media professional with over 30 years’ experience working in government, corporate, media and tertiary education sectors around the world.
Ian was most recently employed as Senior Media Advisor to Queensland Premier Campbell Newman and before that worked as Senior Media Advisor to Queensland Health Minister Lawrence Springborg.
Ian is one of Australia’s most experienced and versatile moderators and MCs having hosted for Prime Ministers, Premiers, Ministers, captains of industry, World Cup soccer coaches and even a record-breaking Antarctic explorer!
He is best known as presenter and reporter with ABC TV News, where he worked between 1990 and 2007 in a wide variety of roles, including Political Reporter, Network Editor, Olympics Reporter and Sports Presenter/Reporter.He spent over 2 ½ years at QUT as Media Manager, working with the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Deans and senior academics in issues and media management. Ian is also a published author and an Australian marathon representative.He has been a regular news and current affairs panellist on 612 ABC Radio from 2012-2015.
